Get into Spring with flirty skirts and warm layers

by Alicia Fischer, Communications @ Our Hands For Hope

Spring is finally upon us, although it’s felt like it for quite a while here in California. To celebrate the official arrival of one of our favorite times of year, we’ve put together an outfit that still has some winter style but with shorter lengths and a couple pops of color to ease us into the season.

So instead of staying bundled up, switch to shorter layers like flirty skirts and lighter sweaters that are easy to take off when it’s warm, but can still keep you from getting cold if there’s a breeze.

Check out our newest choice of outfit for spring, featuring our Tina shrug.

Radiant Orchid, Pantone color of 2014

By Cinthya Rubio, Marketing & Communications Director @ Our Hands For Hope

This past December it was announced that “PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid” was to be the color of the year for 2014, it “intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination”. Many were excited to have this bright and fun color show up in the Spring 2014 fashion shows but the question of how to wear it is very present.

One of my best friends went into this whole spiel of how this color only favors certain skin tones yada yada yada… Sure there are colors that favor my skin tone more than others, but let this “science” not take over our individual sense of style! Fashion isn’t a world full of rules, there are no boundaries, it is an expression of oneself, and that my lovely friends is what I call FREEDOM!

Ok now that I have proclaimed my fashion beliefs, it’s time to get down to business… The question for today is:

How can I incorporate Radiant Orchid into an outfit without looking like… well a walking Orchid!?

Here is an outfit that I put together that can work for day and transition into night, the use of different fiber textures gives it depth and a bit of whimsical pizzaz.

Accessorizing with Radiant Orchid

Its just enough Radiant Orchid to make a statement. I pared the Our Hands For Hope Paulita Poncho, its elegant ribbed stitch and collar makes it the perfect go to outerwear piece for all occasions, with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and radiant orchid heels. I am more of a silver kind of gal, but with Orchid being a cold color- I wanted to warm it up with gold tones as seen in the sequin shirt and detail of the earrings.

By using Radiant Orchid on accessory pieces, using this amazing color this year will be fun and noticed- in a good way!
