Fall is finally here and pumpkin spice is in the air! We were anxious to bust out our new line of ponchos, sweaters, hats and scarves to walk the streets all bundled up in comfy warmth.
While some know exactly what to wear, others are wondering what the trends are for this year, and if they should even attempt to follow them. We think trends are not rules set in stone, but more like guidelines that you can decide to follow. Just remember: “Fashion” just like art is a means to express yourself; don’t be afraid to add some of your own personality to your look!
Here are four major trends for this Fall 2014:
Ponchos– We saw them early this year at London Fashion Week and haven’t stopped seeing them yet! This great outerwear piece compliments all body shapes and can be worn with a variety of outfits.
Hosiery, Leggings & Tights– with patterns, texture and variety of colors they add an extra wow factor to outfits this Fall.
Leather or Pleather– the sleek look of this material has come back this year. The natural black and brown tones are always welcome, but don’t be afraid to navigate towards colors like oxblood, forest green or yellow for the more audacious crowds.
The soft, cozy texture of alpaca knits compliment the sleek, cool texture of leather accessories.
Metallic– bling will always be a girl’s best friend, but this season metallic accents are completing looks left and right. Silver, platinum, gold and copper are not just for jewelry; consider using these tones for nails and even makeup!
Incorporating all of these things to an outfit might seem daunting, but it can be done. Just remember to always add your own personality!
Springtime is the perfect season to bring our your most feminine pieces for an elegant yet casual look. Pair your favorite, light blouse or shirt with a high-waisted skirt that cuts at the knee for a sophisticated look that can be worn day or night.
Throw on a few accessories like our popular yet versatile Flor scarf to add some layers and chunky jewelry with some color to tie it altogether.
What pieces are you most looking forward to wearing this spring?
Spring is finally upon us, although it’s felt like it for quite a while here in California. To celebrate the official arrival of one of our favorite times of year, we’ve put together an outfit that still has some winter style but with shorter lengths and a couple pops of color to ease us into the season.
So instead of staying bundled up, switch to shorter layers like flirty skirts and lighter sweaters that are easy to take off when it’s warm, but can still keep you from getting cold if there’s a breeze.

This past December it was announced that “PANTONE® 18-3224 Radiant Orchid” was to be the color of the year for 2014, it “intrigues the eye and sparks the imagination”. Many were excited to have this bright and fun color show up in the Spring 2014 fashion shows but the question of how to wear it is very present.
One of my best friends went into this whole spiel of how this color only favors certain skin tones yada yada yada… Sure there are colors that favor my skin tone more than others, but let this “science” not take over our individual sense of style! Fashion isn’t a world full of rules, there are no boundaries, it is an expression of oneself, and that my lovely friends is what I call FREEDOM!
Ok now that I have proclaimed my fashion beliefs, it’s time to get down to business… The question for today is:
How can I incorporate Radiant Orchid into an outfit without looking like… well a walking Orchid!?
Here is an outfit that I put together that can work for day and transition into night, the use of different fiber textures gives it depth and a bit of whimsical pizzaz.
Accessorizing with Radiant Orchid
Its just enough Radiant Orchid to make a statement. I pared the Our Hands For Hope Paulita Poncho, its elegant ribbed stitch and collar makes it the perfect go to outerwear piece for all occasions, with a pair of dark wash skinny jeans and radiant orchid heels. I am more of a silver kind of gal, but with Orchid being a cold color- I wanted to warm it up with gold tones as seen in the sequin shirt and detail of the earrings.
By using Radiant Orchid on accessory pieces, using this amazing color this year will be fun and noticed- in a good way!
Harvest in the valley is a wonderful time of year. People come together to pick their crops, press the grapes, and reap the benefits of the year’s production. The air is filled with a hint of vinegar as the new grapes ferment, and workers, families, and friends come together to celebrate another successful season.
Depending on what you’re going for, harvest time can range from September until November. In Napa Valley, harvest time is usually warm, with the sun setting earlier and clinging to the last days of summer before things start to cool down. After the harvest comes the chill, and this year we are fully prepared for when the fog rolls in and blankets the vines in its soft, dewy mist.
Sounds like it’s time to bundle up and get cozy! Check out our knits that are perfect for snuggling into winter. Bring on the cold!
It’s that time of year again when the transition from hot summer days of drinking a mojito at the beach are quickly ending, and chilly evenings sitting around a fire pit sipping on an Oktoberfest beer are just around the corner. The thought of having to buy a whole new wardrobe for the change of season excites and daunts many, but knowing how to use a fun summer dress as a fall item will take your fashion sense to another level!
Nothing screams fall fashion more than boots and knits, well maybe flannel but we’ll leave that for another conversation. I love knee high riding boots but it seems like everyone is following that trend, but there are other options people! I always incline for that subtle rocker look without looking like I’m trying to resuscitate bands like “Guns N’ Roses”, so I paired up my dress with some awesome Dr. Martens boots. Now wearing a dress during the fall or winter is torture when your legs and arms are exposed to the chill of the wind so look for some opaque tights to protect your oh so beautiful legs, and a sweater that won’t add unneeded bulk but that will complement the shape of the dress you are wearing. Now the fun part is accessorizing! I am a fan of hats and Our Hands For Hope has the cutest hand knit hat EVER! I added their Rosemary hat to this look to match up with the boots, sprinkling some statement jewelry pieces like this brass cuff, gold rush necklace from Noonday Collection, and some Griffin Sunglasses give my look just the right amount of pizzazz.
