Our Hands for Hope Pop Up Shop

by Alicia Fischer, Communications @ Our Hands For Hope

Over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend, we set up shop at the CornerStone Sonoma along highway 121 in Sonoma, California. We were stationed at Potter Green & Co showing our knits in all their wonderful colors, displaying how to wear them, and telling the story of how  they are created and brought to you straight from Peru.

There was a great response to the event, and even made a second appearance the next day! Check out some photos around the beautiful CornerStone Sonoma and see how our knits blend in beautifully to complement the scenery.

After the Harvest Comes the Chill

By Alicia Fischer, Communications Director

Harvest in the valley is a wonderful time of year. People come together to pick their crops, press the grapes, and reap the benefits of the year’s production. The air is filled with a hint of vinegar as the new grapes ferment, and workers, families, and friends come together to celebrate another successful season.

Depending on what you’re going for, harvest time can range from September until November. In Napa Valley, harvest time is usually warm, with the sun setting earlier and clinging to the last days of summer before things start to cool down. After the harvest comes the chill, and this year we are fully prepared for when the fog rolls in and blankets the vines in its soft, dewy mist.

Sounds like it’s time to bundle up and get cozy! Check out our knits that are perfect for snuggling into winter. Bring on the cold!

How to wear a Summer dress in the Fall

By: Cinthya Rubio, Marketing Director @ Our Hands For Hope

It’s that time of year again when the transition from hot summer days of drinking a mojito at the beach are quickly ending, and chilly evenings sitting around a fire pit sipping on an Oktoberfest beer are just around the corner. The thought of having to buy a whole new wardrobe for the change of season excites and daunts many, but knowing how to use a fun summer dress as a fall item will take your fashion sense to another level!

Nothing screams fall fashion more than boots and knits, well maybe flannel but we’ll leave that for another conversation. I love knee high riding boots but it seems like everyone is following that trend, but there are other options people! I always incline for that subtle rocker look without looking like I’m trying to resuscitate bands like “Guns N’ Roses”, so I paired up my dress with some awesome Dr. Martens boots. Now wearing a dress during the fall or winter is torture when your legs  and arms are exposed to the chill of the wind so look for some opaque tights to protect your oh so beautiful legs, and a sweater that won’t add unneeded bulk but that will complement the shape of the dress you are wearing. Now the fun part is accessorizing! I am a fan of hats and Our Hands For Hope has the cutest hand knit hat EVER! I added their Rosemary hat to this look to match up with the boots, sprinkling some statement jewelry pieces like this brass cuff, gold rush necklace from Noonday Collection, and some Griffin Sunglasses give my look just the right amount of pizzazz.

With Open Hands, Here We Are

Do you ever walk into a clothing store and wonder where your new blouse really came from? The tag may usually say from China, but who was the person creating it and ensuring every stitch and seam met up perfectly for you to wear?

At Our Hands for Hope, we’re on a mission – A mission for fashion, a mission for prosperity, and a mission for hope. We’re not just about the knits, but the people behind them. We believe in the power of helping others and how far that power can take us.

For the past three years, we’ve been working with some wonderful women in Peru to showcase their skill in alpaca knitwear, bringing trendy pieces to you and hope to them. These women are mothers, caretakers, and harbor a great skill. We’ve stepping in to create a sustainable, trendy product line that showcases their incredible talents and introduces them to the United States market, providing them and their families with opportunities not easily accessible outside of Western outlets.

Our home originated in the Napa Valley, but we’ve been expanding. We are now in California, Texas, and Colorado, and are looking to spread hope to new markets, telling our story to encourage women not only in Peru but the rest of the world.

So, here we are: Our Hands for Hope. We are diving into the fashion world with a purpose.  This blog is our place to show you our travels, thoughts, and trends and to inspire you to lend a hand to the hopeful.
